From Ice Fest to Moonwalks, start the New Year off with a bang in Southwest Colorado!

There is no comparison to the splendor of the Uncompahgres in the winter months, January is crisp with the click of axes driving into the Uncompahgre Gorge, as viewers stand to the side in awe of these athletes. The air holds a renewed vitality, chill and vibrant, the weather is perfect for winter adventures, and Ouray County is a perfect home base for whatever you have in mind!

Head down to the city pool and rent some ice skates for a morning on the ice at Rotary Park, the soak away the chill when you return your skates. 2014icefestWhether you are a seasoned climber here to compete, or a curious bystander, the Ouray Ice Festival is an amazing place to be this January! Dinners, parties, live music, hot tubbing and of course everything 'Ice' are the order of the weekend.

Athletes from around the world will be competing this year, and clinics and classes for the novice are abundant as well. Winter sports are always exciting, and ice climbing is definitely a favorite. Be sure to check the official schedule of events for this weekend of winter fun.

Friday, January 10, 2014 - 9pm to 12am at O'Brien's Pub - Bone Wagon

Ever the favorite hangout for climbers, O'Brien's Pub welcomes the festivities of Ice fest with an evening of live music! Bone Wagon has performed all around Southwest Colorado, and is sure to get your blood pumping as you dance the night away!

wright1Spend the evening with five 'working girls' in their twilight years, as the reminisce about their early days in New Orleans' Storyville District when "there was honor in the trade".

Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Paula Vogel uses the absurd image of elderly prostitutes as a medium to explore the roles of women in a patriarchal society, and their hopes and fears. This heartwarming and often funny play is performed by the Timshel Theater Company, who has performed across Southwest Colorado.

Music will be provided by the Chameleon Ensemble and other vocal guest artists. This will be a bright event on a chilly winter day, just as his music has brightened lives for 258 years.
