Mountain Air Music Series Returns to Southwest Colorado

  • live_music_ouray_bcm3-6It’s that time of year again….SUMMER!! And we all know what that means, it is time to set aside your Thursday evenings from 6-9pm to enjoy the Annual Mountain Air Music Series in Ouray County. For those that have never been, this is a series of FREE outdoor concerts that are held in Fellin Park in Ouray during the month of June and in Hartwell Park in Ridgway through the month of July. Each Thursday concert features fantastic live music as well as tasty food, non-alcoholic drinks, with spirits, beer, & wine also available for purchase. This is a family-friendly affair that includes fun kid’s entertainment to go along with the music, so make sure to bring the little one’s along and have a blast watching them dance and enjoy the entertainment.

There is a great lineup of musicians and bands that have signed on to entertain us this year:

quietcompanyJune 4: Quiet Company with The Blue Aces – Quiet Company is an award winning Rock Band out of Austin, TX with power pop and indie rock influences. If you enjoy them be sure to check out their new album “Transgressor” released in early 2015.

To hear some samples of Zolopht’s music check out their tunes on their webpage.

black_lilliesJune 25th: The Black Lillies with Sweetwater String Band – The Black Lillies coming out of Tennessee rock out with a  combination of Americana, Rock, Blues and Soul music. They will be joined by Sweetwater Sting Band, out of California,  to infuse some Bluegrass sounds into the set.

It doesn’t matter if you come to one or come to all, you are guaranteed to have a wonderful, relaxing and energetic, good time with old friends and new. Just bring a camp chair or blanket to chill on while you are serenaded by fantastic music and the breathtaking scenery of the San Juan Mountains surrounding Ouray. And don’t forget to purchase some food and drink while you are there, as local non-profit organizations will benefit from food and beverage sales during the concerts.
