For a century now, the Ouray County Fair and Rodeo has taken place every September in Ridgway, Colorado. As the mining industry began to decline, ranching and farming in the area became more prevalent.

ourayfair2017.jpgA publicly-supported informal education program, 4H provides a variety of learning activities and programs for youth in every community. Perhaps known most widely for the livestock program, young people learn a variety of life skills as they raise a variety of animals, culminating in the livestock show at the county fair. It is always a pleasure to see the proud faces of these kids as they show off all they have learned.

Once the fair begins to wind down, it's time to get to the Rodeo. In fact, there are two rodeos!

The CPRA (Colorado Pro Rodeo Association) finishes off the weekend festivities. With an eye on the mystique and romance of the modern day cowboy, the excitement of competition serves to remind us all of the amazing heritage of the west!

Labor Day begins with a Rodeo Parade through Ridgway, but the day is just beginning at 1pm as the Rodeo continues into the afternoon.

Sure to be yet another great year, the labor Day Fair and Rodeo in Ridgway is definitely something you don't want to miss out on!
