From humble beginnings to its current status, the Ouray Ice Parkwelcomes everyone to explore and enjoy the sport if ice climbing. Once, just a couple of friends took a hose, creating the first climb in the park, which now boasts over 200 manmade ice and mixed climbs, 14 distinct climbing areas, and three miles of vertical terrain.

Opening a week earlier than last year, the ice is holding strong on the cliffs of the Uncompaghre River Gorge. Climbers from all over the world have been awaiting this day for months, preparing and training over the off season to come climb in beautiful Ouray, Colorado.

Kristen Kelliher has won national acclaim as the youngest person to summit the top peak in all 50 states in the country. She will be joining the festivities in Ouray immediately after completing the second of the Seven Summits, Aconcague in the Andes. Somewhat new to the sport of ice climbing, this young lady has already accumulated an impressive resume as a top athelete.
